Frequently Asked Questions about Dance:
1. What does it cost?
Dance students are required to purchase a dance class t-shirt they will wear each day in class and to practices when necessary. The shirts cost anywhere from $10.00 to $15.00 depending on the year/design. Dance shoes are not required, but are highly recommended for class. We will wear them for performances. You can find black jazz shoes at Academy if you decide to purchase them.
2. What does my student wear to dance class?
Students wear the dance class t-shirt that is purchased in class during the first week of school; black pants that are knee length or longer (leggings, jazz pants, yoga pants, etc.); either black jazz shoes or socks (if you student has other dance shoes please show them to me and I will let you know if they are acceptable.)

Dance can count as .5 Fine Arts credit, .5 PE credit, or an electives credit.
4. Does my student need to have dance experience to take dance?
NO!!! No experience is required to take dance at Tex Hill Middle School. We have students with no experience to students who have been dancing all of their lives, both of which truly enjoy dance class at Tex Hill. We will start from the very beginning. No matter how much dance experience your student does or does not have I will teach them as if they have never taken dance before.
5. Are there required performances for dance class?
We do have performances at the school and at community events, however no performance is mandatory. The end of semester performance is for a grade, therefore if a student opts out of this performance they will have an alternative assignment to complete.
6. Is this a dance team?
No, taking dance class does not count as being on a dance team, we do not have a dance team at Tex Hill Middle School. We are starting up a dance club this year that will perform at school events such as pep rallies, football games, basketball games, etc. If you are interested in joining the dance club please see Mrs. Ward for more information.
