Principles of Information Technology 3017 (High School Credit)
Students develop computer literacy skills to adapt to emerging technologies used in the global marketplace. Students implement personal and interpersonal skills to prepare for a rapidly evolving workplace environment. Students enhance reading, writing, computing, communication and reasoning skills and apply them to the information technology environment.

1. What exactly is the class about?
Principles of Information technology is a foundational course in the Information technology cluster. This introductory course provides an outlook on computer literacy, digital and interactive media, computer networking and programing, web technologies and more.
2. Will they be using Photoshop?
As a unit in the P.I.T course students will learn about digital and graphic design. Photoshop is included in this unit.
3. Will they be coding?
Computer programing and computer coding will also be included as a unit in P.I.T.
Students will learn the basic concepts of coding and programming. They will also be able to explore careers in this field.
4. Do they get High School credit?
Each student will earn the High School credit associated with the class.
5. Will they be designing Games?
Game Design is a huge industry as of late. Mobile gaming, educational gaming, and online gaming coders and programmers are in high demand. Game design will be incorporated with coding and programming.
6. What do they need for class?
In P.I.T Students will be provided with computers, tablets, smart boards, and many other digital devices for use in class. Required materials for this course is a 16gb flash drive /thumb drive or larger.
7. Will they be using Microsoft office
Students in class will be learning the basics of word processing, presentation software and data input. Microsoft office is a common platform used, but students will learn cost effective and comparable alternatives.
8. Will they have homework?
Each class may have projects they can do at home. All projects will be available via the course website.
9. What If I don’t have the software?
There are software alternative available online, often free of charge. Students that need to work at home will be provided with the alternative if it is an in-class software being used.
