Course Description
Athletics 0757 - 7th grade | 8505 - 8th grade
This course will include instruction for boys in the sport of football, basketball, and track. Instruction for girls will be in volleyball, basketball, and track. Basic motor skills will be taught, as well as higher forms of physical skills that are required of athletes. A high degree of physical and cardiovascular fitness will be emphasized. Emphasis will also be placed on teaching good sportsmanship and developing a respect for other athletes and coaches in order to insure a quality educational experience.

Tex Hill Girls Athletics - Frequently Asked Questions
1. What sports are offered at Tex Hill for girls?
Volleyball, Basketball, and Track are the three main sports offered through the athletic period.
Tennis and Golf are also offered after school only.
**Students enrolling in the Athletic period MUST participate in two of there three major sports (volleyball, basketball, and track).
2. What are the eligibility requirements in order to play on a team?
8th graders must not be 15 before September 1st.
7th graders must not be 14 before September 1st.
All participants must meet grade eligibility requirements put in place by Texas UIL guidelines which can be accessed at www.uiltexas.org.
All participants must turn in and fill out appropriate paperwork (refer to # 7).
3. Does every person that participates in try-outs make the team?
Yes, everybody makes a team.
Tryouts determine which team your daughter makes. There are three teams (A, B, Go Teams).
4. How many days per week do middle school sports practice?
A and B teams practice every day.
Go teams (developmental team) practice two times a week.
5. Is my student expected to attend all practices, games, and tournaments?

6. If my student is on a team, are they guaranteed playing time?
Yes, but playing time is NOT equal.

8. What paperwork do I need in order to tryout and participate on a team?
Physical form dated within one calendar year (filled out by doctor)
**A current physical signed by a doctor and the online participation form must be complete to be in the Athletic period. Athletes will not be allowed to participate in the class period or the after school practices.
