Principles of Applied Engineering 3019
This course provides an overview of the various fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematic and their interrelationships. Students will use a variety of computer hardware and software applications to complete assignments and projects. Upon completing this course, students will have an understanding of the various fields and will be able to make informed decisions regarding a coherent sequence of subsequent courses.

Principles of Applied Engineering (3019)
1. What are the prerequisites for Principles of Applied Engineering?
Have a desire to learn about basic engineering principles including; what is an engineer, what different fields are there in engineering, why types of jobs are there for engineers. Have a basic understanding of how to use a computer. A desire to build and construct different structures. Want to work with your hands.
2. Is there a program fee?
Yes, there is a program fee of $30 to cover the cost of consumables and extra supplies that we will need throughout the year. The fee includes an engineering notebook for each student and cost associated with a field trip.
3. What kind of things do students do in engineering class?
Students get to build all kinds of different things; bridges, gliders, CO2 dragsters, rockets, solar cars, LED flashlights, etc.
4. How are students graded?
The student will be assessed through various methods: use of technology, weekly online forms with a couple of content questions, unit test, engineering notebooks, quizzes, worksheets, special projects and participation.

5. Are there opportunities outside of class for student to participate?
Yes, there are special assignments outside of school/class that students can work on; crafts and woodworking, engineering design, building, DYI projects.
